Who we are
SoNo Collective is a climate justice assembly created by activists in Africa and Germany. We are building a sociocratic, circle-based network that centers Global South leadership and challenges colonial patterns in climate activism.
Our Vision
A decolonized climate justice movement led by the Global South, with equitable redistribution of resources and authentic intercontinental solidarity—so marginalized communities can lead sustainable and just solutions.
Our Mission
To promote climate justice from an intercontinental, anti-colonial perspective.
Our founding principles
- Anti-colonialism as climate action: climate solutions must address colonial harms and present-day extractivism
- Sociocratic decision-making: inclusive, transparent, consent-based governance
- Friendship as resistance: building trust across borders to sustain long-term solidarity
How we work (Core Values)
Circle-Based Organisation
Consent-Based Decisions
Double-Linking Between Groups
To maintain strong communication and shared accountability, our circles are connected through double-linking. This means each circle is represented in others through shared members, allowing information, perspectives, and decisions to flow across the network and strengthen collaboration.
Transparent Accountability
We prioritise openness, trust, and responsibility in our work. Decisions, processes, and commitments are shared clearly within the collective and with partners, ensuring integrity, learning, and continuous improvement across all our activities.
Why we exist (South–North Solidarity)
The climate crisis is shaped by unequal power: many projects harming communities in the Global South are financed, insured, and politically supported through institutions and markets in the Global North. We build practical solidarity that helps connect struggles, shift resources, and strengthen resistance—including campaigns like #StopEACOP.
